Features
BASIC PRINCIPLE
  1. Power of the traction drive is transmitted by the rolling contact mechanism via oil film of traction grease characterized by high viscosity at high pressures.

  2. Contact pressure P is created at each contact surface on planetary rollers, a sun roller and a stationary housing, which are assembled with elastic deformation.
    By this pressure, the oil films changes to high viscosity one (only when contact pressure P is imposed) so that the power can be transmitted at the roller contact area.

  3. The traction force T is formulated by Equation (1).

    where,
    µ : Traction coefficient
    P : Contact pressure

  4. This unit is a speed increasing device which the revolution of the planetary roller is used for input side and the rotation of the sun roller is output side.
    The speed increasing ratio is formulated by Equation (2).
    n =1+D/d… (2)
    where,
    D : Bore diameter of stationary housing
    d : Outside diameter of sun roller
No.1 Positioning Block
(Optional for use on M/C)
The positioning block and pin mechanism supplies coolant to the tool.

No.2 Positioning Pin
Can be adjusted "One-touch" in a range of 40mm.

No.3 Nut
Blanced in the factory.

No.4 Orientation Ring
Location of a positioning block differs depending on machines.
The phase of the tool can be 360° adjuted using the orientation ring.

No.5 Coolant Nozzle
The direction of the coolant nozzles can be adjusted easily by hand, so that the coolant will go to the cutting edges.

No.6 Collet
A super precision collet of maximum 3µm of runout should be used.
One collet is supplied with the speeder.
Please specify a required size of the collet.

No.7 Cutters
A drill, end mill and grinding wheel with a straight shank can be applied.
ATC - Ready…
Compact and light, the TDU is ready for ATC… with no extra attachments necessary.

The Traction Drive Unit particularly provides smooth-running, without noise or vibration. It even makes grinding possible on your M/C.

A stable torque transmission produces stable rpm, unlike air motor speed accelerators.
High Speed…
Efficient lubrication is maintained even at high speed, since the traction drive employs a transmission mechanism based on rolling contact.
The ceramic bearings and through-the-body coolant ensure reliable and long lasting high speed operation.
